September is the 46th Annual Observance of “September is Black Reading Month.” This observance was founded by Brother Malik Yakini and others in Detroit, MI to promote reading and literacy among African Americans. One of the goals is to encourage African Americans to read at least one book by a Black Author during the month of September. Can you do that and talk about it among family and friends? Remember the quote by Frederick Douglass: “ Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.”
